Santo António, Tiles

This book brings together a small photographic sample of the countless tiles dedicated to Saint Anthony of Lisbon, which decorate the facades of residential buildings and others throughout the country.

It is an example of the association of a low-cost and eminently popular decorative art with the devotion to a very popular saint in Portugal. In addition to their decorative function, these tiles also play a symbolic role, from the point of view of popular religiosity.
